Chakra Flow

with Liz Smith - RYT

Friday Date June 14 From 7:00 - 9:00 PMLocation  Tinley Park

The chakras are a system of energy centers within and around the body. There are seven main chakras arranged vertically from the base of the spine to the top of the head. Each chakra is an energetic wheel, or vortex, that corresponds to how we feel, function, and relate to the world around us.

Moving from the base of the spine through the crown of the head, this workshop will explore how to use the tools of breath and posture to balance, align, and open the flow of energy within this system.

No experience is needed. All levels are welcome as we work together through lecture, practice, and discussion to strengthen and deepen your connection to your mind, body, and spirit.

Cost: $20 by June 13th or $25 thereafter

Why Self-Care isn't Self Indulgent?

with Karen Taylor - Certified Option Method Therapies

Saturday Date June 15 From 3:30 - 5:00 PMLocation  Homewood

·              Clarify What It Means To Be Selfish.

·              Uncover The Fears That Keep You From Moving Forward.

·              Discover Why Self-Care Improves Your Life.

·              Start Living The Life You’ve Always Wanted!

Most of us assume that selfishness is both wrong and unhealthy. But is this true?  Contrary to popular opinion, all healthy individuals are selfish. Choosing to pursue the career of your choice, having children, breathing, eating and avoiding an oncoming car are selfish acts. Without selfishness, none of us would survive the day–much less a lifetime.  Selfishness does not mean self-destructive behavior. Most of us assume that we cannot be both selfish and kind to others. This is simply not true.

We live in a world that does not always recognize the beauty and value of selfishness. We are taught, from childhood, that we must either be self-sacrificing or thoughtlessly “selfish.” But those are not the only choices.  Join me and discover for yourself the value of selfishness in your life and find out how you and others benefit

Cost: $15 by June 14th or $20 thereafter

Explore Meditation

with Loriann Mehmel - RYT

Friday Date June 21 From 7:00 - 9:00 PMLocation  Tinley Park

Patanjali writes that meditation occurs when the activities of the mind (thought waves) are completely restrained. But how do we achieve this state?

This experiential workshop will explore meditation in the Sivananda tradition, focusing on its 3 main components: rhythmic breathing, visualization at one of two particular chakras, and mental repetition of a mantra. We will experiment with each component, working with breathing exercises, tratak, visualization/imagery, and examples of traditional Sanskrit mantras/japa, finally tying all elements together into the traditional practice. A discussion of the many benefits of meditation and tips for building a daily practice will also be included.

Cost: $20 by June 20th or $25 thereafter

Detox Yoga: The Yoga of Letting Go

with Ginger Sullivan - 500-hour Certified Yoga Instructor

Sunday Date June 23 From 4:00 - 6:00 PMLocation  Homewood

Yoga can supply us with the necessary tools in order to detox emotionally, mentally and physically as we move through a journey of letting go of expectations, judgement, past experiences, and more. You will leave more equipped to address your own personal process of ‘letting go’ and healing. Through this practice we will begin to peel away what’s covering up our true way, our true beauty & our true spirit. If we really are working here today, we are going to leave with less than we came with; lighter and freer in mind, body & spirit.

Asana (Yoga Posture) Practice: This workshop will be a strong, well-rounded practice incorporating guided breath and meditation. We will move through a creative yoga sequence that integrates three internal components for cleansing: abdominal compression, decompression, and twists.

Pranayama (Yoga Breathing) Practice: Pranayama is essential to this practice, as it plays an important role in promoting detoxification. This workshop we begin with the practice of Breath of Fire. This form of Pranayama is meant to build heat in the core, detox the body and increase vital strength, preparing you for the practice ahead. We will end the practice with Bellows Breath (Bhastrika Pranayama) Bhastrika is a very beneficial way to strengthen and balance the nervous system after an asana practice.

Cost: $20 by June 22 or $25 thereafter
