200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program

Requirements

Reflections Yoga Center Teacher Training Program complies with the standards of the Yoga Alliance, RYT 200 hour level certificate. For more information visit: www.yogaalliance.org.

Reflections Yoga Center Teacher Training coursework is 182 hours of classroom learning and 20 non-contact hours (reading, class observations, etc..) combined to meet the guidelines for the 200 hours of Yoga Alliance requirements.

Coursework:

  • Techniques, Training/Practice (118 hours)

Includes asanas, pranayamas, kriyas, chanting, mantra, meditation and other traditional yoga techniques. Analytical training as well as guided practice. Trainees are required to take 10 classes with an E-RYT and a Meditation workshop with a Master Yoga Teacher at Reflections Yoga Center. Besides this practice it is strongly suggested to take at least one class a week by another teacher, and at least 2 written evaluation of these classes are required.

Self Practice:  Please take 15-20 minutes daily to practice the poses and pranayamas that you are learning in class.

  • Teaching Methodology     (26 hours)

Includes principles of demonstration, observation, assisting and correcting, instruction, teaching styles, qualities of a teacher, structuring and sequencing classes, the student's process of learning and business aspects of teaching yoga.

  • Anatomy and Physiology    (25 hours)

Includes both human physical anatomy and physiology (bodily systems, organs, etc.) and energy anatomy and physiology (chakras, nadis, etc.). Includes both the study of the subject and application of its principles to yoga practice (benefits, contraindications, healthy movement patterns, etc).

  • Yoga Philosophy, Lifestyle and Ethics for Yoga Teachers      (32 hours)

Includes the study of yoga philosophies, yoga lifestyle and ethics for yoga teachers. This comprehends Yoga Sutras, Yanas and Niyamas, etc..

  • Practicum       (12 hours)

Includes practice teaching, receiving feedback, observing others teaching and hearing and giving feedback. Also includes assisting students while someone else is teaching. Trainees are required to teach 4 Community or Intro classes and apprentice 4 Yoga Therapy or Intro classes at RYC during the training period.

  • Electives         (19 hours)

Trainees are required to take some of Refelctions Yoga Center's classes and workshops.
